Board of Director's Message
Only Those Who Dare, Truly Live
As my tenure on the ASTNA Board of Directors come to a conclusion, I begin to reflect on my career as a flight nurse and the contribution I made to the patient care and the industry. In my mind, I have so much more to accomplish. I believe strongly there is no greater honor than to serve your profession and your country. Since I have never had the honor to serve in the military, doing all I can to support the infrastructure of the civilian air medical transport world has been a blessing.
My first job was as a hospice nurse in Daphne, Alabama. As I cared for the dying, the most common theme in my discussions with them was always “live a life true to you and not for others” and “have no regrets”. I would encourage each of you not to be bystanders but dare to live your life truly to contribute to the profession of flight nursing and get involved in ASTNA. With the smallest effort you can have a great impact on patient outcomes through a number of ways with ASTNA. Dare to get involve and Dare to be great! Accomplish things bigger than yourself.
