We asked and you answered! Thank you for participating in the ASTNA Membership Survey this past summer. Due to your responses, the Board has been hard at work to provide you with the benefits that you are seeking.
An overwhelming majority of you have requested more online educational opportunities. In response, ASTNA has contracted with a development company to create and launch an online learning platform. This online learning platform will provide online education such as webinars, courses, articles and more that you can access for CE credit.
The biggest project that we are working on with our development company is to create an online offering of the Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC formerly TNATC). This will allow many more people who would not have been able to attend an in-person course to be able to access this valuable transport education. The online course should be available by Q2 of 2018. The in-person course will continue to be offered. We are also working on turning the in-person TPATC into a 2 day course instead of a 3 day course.
We will also be launching the brand new Pediatric Advanced Transport Course in 2018! This is an excellent educational opportunity for anyone who would like more pediatric education.
We also heard that our current website is not user-friendly and does not have great mobile optimization. We are currently in the design phase of our new website and we hope that you will enjoy what we come up with! You can expect it to run faster, be more organized, provide more information and content, be visually appealing and fully optimized to be accessed on your mobile device. This will be launched before the end of the year.
We will be sending out more frequent communications of projects that the ASTNA Board and Committees are working on.
We will be putting the spotlight on our members and their programs. Check out the website to learn more about your fellow members and submit your spotlight profile to be featured!
2017 was the Year of Publications. We released reviewed and updated versions of the Critical Care Transport Core Curriculum, Critical Care Transport Certification Exam Review Manual Examination Review Manual, and the Patient Transport: Principles and Practices, 5th Edition.
2018 will be the Year of Education as we launch a newly revised Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course, 7th Edition, Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course, Online Edition, the Pediatric Advanced Transport Course as well as webinars and other Educational Opportunities. Work will also be occurring on our new CFRN/CTRN review course. We will also begin work on a new critical care medical course.
ASTNA recently formed an alliance with East Coast Helicopter Operations (ECHO) and will have a presence at the ECHO conference in 2018!
ASTNA will be at the following conferences in 2018: CCTMC in San Antonio, NTI in Boston, ENA in Pittsburgh, ECHO in San Antonio and AMTC in Phoenix. Stop by the booth and say hello!
Another project ASTNA is working on is the Legacy project. We are putting together a beautiful Legacy book on transport medicine, the specialty and history. We have received commitments from donors to move this project forward and should see this finalized by the end of next year.
AMTC was very successful this year. We had record attendance with over 130 people at our Annual Meeting and Membership Lunch. We hope to see you next year in Phoenix!
We continue to look for ways to advocate for our members and provide what you need. Please feel free to contact me at email@example.com or any of the current ASTNA Board if you have any comments, questions or concerns. Board contact information is located here: http://astna.org/?page=CurrentBoard
We hope you are as excited about all that ASTNA is working on as we are! Watch for more info emails to come.
