What Will I Learn as a Pediatric Transport Professional?

The didactic portion of the course includes online modules and an exam completed at your own pace prior to the in-person session. This portion is designed to strengthen participants' knowledge of the pathophysiology, assessment, and management of neonatal and pediatric patients in the transport environment.

The two-day, in-person portion of the course includes instructor-led small group discussions with transport professionals from across the United States, a ventilator lab with hands-on ventilator instruction and discussion of ventilation strategies specific to the neonatal and pediatric populations, and an invasive skills lab with instruction on skills including umbilical line placement and needle decompression. Attendees must complete both a neonatal and pediatric testing scenario in a simulation center as individuals to complete the course.

Course topics include, but are not limited to:

What Are the Teaching Methods?

This is a hybrid course. All PATC didactic lectures must be completed online before attending the course. Proof of completion is required upon course check-in.

As part of the hybrid format, you will need to complete all of the PATC Online Modules and the final course assessment prior to attending the in-person portion of the course. The in-person portion is subject to cancellation depending on enrollment so please take this into account when making travel arrangements and consider refundable options. In the unlikely event of cancellation, ASTNA will notify students no later than one month prior to the course date.

🏅 Participants who successfully complete both the didactic and in-person portions of the course will receive 29 CE hours in neonatal/pediatric transport. Verification is valid for four years.

*There is a six-month grace period from the time your provider status expires before you need to re-verify. Reverification can be done through the Online PATC or through an In-Person PATC.
